Your Love For Him Will Grow

A Pageant in Verse for New Beginnings.

The cast: Narrator
Seven flowers, one for each of the Young Women values.

As our play begins, each flower is crouched down small, perhaps out of
sight behind chairs, or a low border of "grass" at the front of the stage.

Narrator: There once was a garden with grass tall and green.
There were flowers there too, but they hid there unseen.
Each blossom too short to be viewed in the crowd,
How every one wished she could stand tall and proud!

The gardener loved each small flower and knew
Of the beauty within, and the potential too,
To grow and to flourish and share in her place
The light and the joy of a blossom's bright face.

To each tender flower the gardener came
He watered and weeded and called each by name
And told each a secret, a gift she should know
That each had inside her to help her to grow.

"Have Faith," he said first to a flower of white.
          She said,

White F. : I believe that the sun's pure bright light
Will warm me and bless me and help me grow tall,
And lift me each day so I never feel small.
(As she says her line, the white flower stands up. Each of the other
flowers should also stand up as they speak in turn)

Narrator: A little blue flower was told, "Child of mine,
Lift up your head, for your nature's divine."
          The flower said,

Blue F. : Yes, I came of a good seed.
To be true to myself is all that I need.

Narrator: To a red flower next he said, "You've much to share.
The worth of your self is beyond compare."

Red F. : Yes, I am unique, I'll stand up so you'll see
There's no individual that's quite like me.

Narrator: The next one heard, "Learn, there is so much to know."
So the green flower studied what might make her grow.

Green F. : I've learned that I can photo - synthesize!
With air, light, and water, now up I will rise!

Narrator: "Make careful choices, you're accountable."
The orange one heard it, and said,

Orange F. : From this soil,
I'll take with my roots only good things for me.
Then a beautiful flower is what I will be.

Narrator: A blossom of yellow heard, "Give, freely give.
Your good works will bless and help others to live."

Yellow F. : I'll share with the others this water from you,
And grow as I help them in all that I do.

Narrator: And last to the purple, the gardener spake.
"For truth and for goodness, a stand you must take!"
          She said,

Purple F. : My integrity helps me stand tall.
With courage and honor I'll answer the call.

Narrator: So now in the garden the flowers all show
Each color, each value that they've come to know.
Through the gardener's love, his caring and teaching,
Each flower is blossoming, stretching, and reaching.

A beautiful garden now stands in the sun
And each grateful flower gives thanks to the one
Who showed them the values that they had within
To help them grow tall, a new life to begin.

May we, as these flowers, our own values find
And grow and develop in soul, heart, and mind.
Give thanks to our Savior for his love so bright
That guides us and helps us to grow towards his light.
